Ascension Day Picnic and Service

Forty days after Jesus rose from the dead, he ascended into heaven and took his seat at God’s right. Now he reigns far above all power and authority.

Ascension, however, has become one of the forgotten festivals of the church. There are a number of reasons for this. At Mount Lebanon, we’re trying to bring back Ascension. This is a big day for us and we want to make it bigger.

Join us this THURSDAY (5/9) at 5 pm for a picnic. Ham sandwiches and hotdogs will be provided. Bring something to share - a salad, a dessert, or anything else that you’d love to share.

Bring a lawn chair or a blanket. We’ll set up to serve inside and (weather-permitting) we’ll eat outside. If the rain comes, we’ll eat in the community room.

Then, at 6:00 pm we’ll gather inside for an evening service of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving.

We’d love to have you for even part of the afternoon/evening around God’s Word celebrating our ascended Lord.

A Service of Remembrance: Finding Hope in God at the loss of children, unborn and born.

Mayo Clinic estimates that about 10-20% of pregnancies end in miscarriage but then admits that the number may actually be higher since some women miscarry before they even know about their pregnancy. A textbook in Italy suggests that the percentage of miscarriages may be closer to 60%. And if we add in the loss associated with stillbirth, the death of a child early on, and other kinds of infant deaths, the numbers are truly heartbreaking. The numbers are truly staggering, but the church has often not provided a way to mourn the loss and to find hope in Jesus. We have funerals for those who die, but, most importantly, we pray for those who suffer such a loss. There is no coffin. There is no service. There is often no closure. One pastor said: “Too long, too often, we have let mothers and gathers grieve alone. We want to provide such hope to the people of God who mourn such loss.

At Mount Lebanon, on Wednesday, November 1, we will hold a “Service of Remembrance” for those who seek hope in God at the loss of children, both unborn and born. The service will be at 6:30 pm, with light refreshments to follow for those who desire to share additional time and fellowship. We pray that this service will be a blessing to you.

We know that it may be difficult for parents with young children to come to such a service on a weekday evening, so we will provide a $30 gift to help parents get a babysitter. You will be able to request help by registering for the event or by contacting the church office. You only need to register if you would like help to secure a babysitter.

Trunk or Treat 2023

We want to bring a safe space to trick or treat to Milwaukee. We’ll have trunks, treats, drinks, and more.

Want to come?

We’d love to have you! Just come on October 28 between 3 and 6 pm. We’ll be there. We hope you will be too.

Can you help?

This is going to be a community effort. We are looking for people to be creative in decorating their vehicle trunks or helping decorate inside the community room. We need help setting up, taking down, and, of course, providing candy to give away. We are planning for 700 children! This is a community project, and we need your help.

Mt Lebanon's 10th Annual Golf Scramble

Join us on October 14th!

This is the 10th Annual Mixed Scramble Tournament that Mount Lebanon has hosted. Since it is “mixed” it is of course open to men and women. Since it is a “scramble” you do not have to be a great golfer to come out and join in the fun. It is a nine-hole event with prizes awarded, but most of all it is a chance to fellowship around an afternoon of golf. Proceeds go to our Mahnke Student Aid Fund which financially supports our students who choose to attend WELS ministerial training schools.

"This is Us" Sunday

Mount Lebanon is a special place. It is a place where the Word is preached, and each of us grows like a plant in the ground. It is a place where the seed is planted, and the kingdom grows to become a flourishing tree. It is a place where God gathers a group of misfits to be part of his kingdom's work. This is us.  “This is Us” Sunday is a Sunday for us to remember who we are, why we’re here, and what we hope to do here by God’s grace.

9:30 am - Worship Service

11:00 am - Potluck and “Get-to-know-you” Bingo

12:30 pm - Workday

Let’s make a day of it. After lunch, you’re invited to help us continue to prepare the worksite. We’ll be finishing a deck for the worksite office, building ramps for the trailers, finish framing the office, and other projects that will prepare us to hit the ground running.

Holy Habits: The Prayer Habit

Holy Habits:

The life of every person is a busy and full life. The Christian life is no exception. We often find ourselves running from one thing to the next. As a result, some of the most important things get sidelined. In this brief four-week study, we will consider the power of habit as well as study and discuss the development of three specific habits.

We will begin with a meal at 5:30 pm. The study will start at 6 pm and end by 7 pm.

Leading our Family to Jesus

Christian parents want to welcome their children into heaven with a hug. But this world is a tough place. We know that all of us – including our children – will face challenges in life and to our faith. We want to raise our children to know the Lord. But how? It is a daunting and even overwhelming challenge. But it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. In this one-night event, we’ll share our challenges and daily small steps we can take so that we can hug our kids into heaven.

Every parent who attends will receive an age-appropriate devotional book that they can use with their children. Child-care will be provided.

Christmas Day Festival

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights. God loves to give good gifts! His greatest gift? It was wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. That gift—joy unspeakable, the peace that passes understanding, love beyond what we could ask or imagine—must be unwrapped. How? Like little children on Christmas morning! Unwrap Christ with us this Christmas. We would love to have you.

Advent at Sinai

Midweek Advent

4:30 pm - Evening Prayer service

5:30 pm - Supper

6:30 pm - Evening Prayer Service

Advent, like Lent, is a time of preparation. In addition, it has historically been used as a time for catechesis, that is, careful instruction in the truths of God’s Word. As we gather for these Advent family devotions, we will remember the coming of our Savior, prepare to worship him, and consider the life that our God calls us to live according to his commands.

With hymn and prayer, catechetical recitation, and reflection on the commandments, we’ll orient our lives to the life that God calls us to live. As we gaze at his Law, we will gain God's vision for the good life, the life with him, the life for him, and the life for our neighbors. God help us to order our deeds and our days by his word.
